IPG is an independent Ltd. Its mission is “to supply independent scientific and administrative support for the improvement and support of existing breeding and AI programmes” as well as integrated production chains.
IPG activities
The activities of IPG are primarily breeding programme administration, breeding value estimation and reproduction and selection research. Furthermore, IPG is providing facilities giving added value to its basic activities and/or services based on the available expertise. IPG is a recognized body working according to NEN-ISO-9001-2000.
The IPG customers
Since the start in 1997 IPG has been providing breeding programme administration, breeding value estimation and breeding and reproduction research for the breeding programmes of e.g. TOPIGS (formerly Stamboek, Dalland, Dumeco Breeding and Fomeva). As from 2000, also the Dutch Association of Pig AI Cooperatives has linked to the IPG Ltd for research and ICT support. IPG is providing support to EFFAB, the European Form of Farm Animal Breeders, since its foundation and IPG executes projects for BPEX, VION and the Dutch dog registry.
The IPG partners
IPG is playing a supporting and advising role for the animal production sector. In order to be able to serve these organisations as good as possible, working together with other partners in research is very important to IPG. The main research partners in the Netherlands are Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR, especially ABGC, the Animaml Breeding and Genetics Centre and Utrecht University (Veterinary Facultry).
IPG was and is actively involved or coordinating several EU projects (e.g. SEFABAR, Code Efabar, Pordictor, PigCET and SABRE) which opened collaboration to several research partners outside the Netherlands (INRA, Roslin, SAC, Univ. of Bonn, IRTA, Univ. of Vicosa etc.)
